Choice experiment of shared wells in Otsuchi
Overview
Otsuchi is a small Japanese town that was severely damaged by the tsunami
in March 2011. This is a water-rich town and had a number of flowing wells
in its residential areas before the tsunami.
These wells are being lost due to the embankment of the residential
areas to reduce future tsunami risks. The primary objectives of this survey
were to estimate needs for a new shared well among Otsuchi citizens and
identify impacts of changing various attributes of the shared well
on their preferences.
A mall-intercept survey was conducted at the Mast Shopping Center, Otsuchi,
during August 17–19, 2015.
Questionnaire used in this survey
The third section of choice questions had seven different patterns.
We will show "Pattern 1" as an example.
